I love this time of year. Everything is in a state of hope. Hope for the flowers to bloom again, the trees to green up, the temps to warm, the longer days to return, ideas to grow and come to life, chances for better understanding. All of these things are based on hope! Our culture tells us that once a year (New Years) we can make resolutions, come to new understandings, set goals, throw off the old and welcome the new. I think we can do this everyday..New day is everyday for us, we don't have to wait 365 days until we can start new again. Isn't God awesome to us? Just thinking of all the opportunities we have every day, every moment to change and improve who we are, and our surroundings. Inspiration is everywhere isn't it? Look at nature how she changes her colors, and textures. If you are bored with the status quo of fashion that we are fed, change it up! Just for yourself! Look at the colors in nature and how they are contrasted. Not in a planned garden but in a field,or a waterway,or an orchard something thats not maintained by us. If you love the colors of spring flowers, knit yourself something in those tones. Don't let what is dictated to you by what is fashionable or acceptable dampen your desire to make something for yourself thats outside the box. Knit up some fingerless mitts in some wild hand painted yarn, socks in a neon bright color! And wear them! How wonderful does it feel to wake up to a clear blue sky after days of grayness?Kind of like having dessert first! Go ahead and eat that cupcake, indulge yourself in color. Wear it! Its feels so good knitting with bright colors, silky fibers, and then wearing it! It draws attention! The good kind! Free yourself from the idea of being subtle, reserved, conservative ( at least in color). We need to see the color! When you walk into our shop I hope you see and enjoy the beautiful colors and textures of yarn. It draws you in doesn't it? Go for it! Get the color and experience the jolt of happiness that just one ball can give you! Slippers, mitts, a hat , a small scarf, a pompom on the ends of your scarf, knit or crochet a flower and wear it on your shoulder. Color is our visual form of hope! Use it every day.
I find myself looking for new ways to incorporate fiber into my life. Right now Im very drawn to weaving. We are going to start weaving classes in March. Simple projects to begin with, learning about the loom, how to calculate how much yarn you will need for your project, color choice and so much more that will allow you to use yarn in a different way. You will never look at your stash in the same way again! Weaving is an ancient art, the Bible speaks of it often. God wove us! Its so satisfying that a little of this an a little of that can be made into something unforgettable, timeless, and so visually appealing. I hope you can joint us for some classes and try this experience. Class size will be limited to 4 at a time. We will have four looms, maybe more depending on response to these initial classes. Class sign up is at the shop, and cost will be $50 for four classes. Valentines Day is coming up soon, we will have all pink and red yarn on sale 14% off in honor of this day of love! Souper Bowl party is February 1! From 6-9pm, we will be eating soup, snacks, and watching Downtown Abbey! Escape the football and come laugh and enjoy the english version of As the World Turns! Looking forward to the next moment, day, month and year! See you at the shop!
